Kingdom of the Holy Cross

Reino dos Cruzeiros

The Holy Cross is the kingdom of judgment, atonement and irrevocable sentence. It stands at the meeting of the four directions, where justice falls without appeal and the binding of enemies is sealed for as long as the iron endures.

Nature of the Kingdom

The Cruzeiros is the cemetery's gate and the courthouse of the spirits. Where the Crossroads negotiates, the Holy Cross decides. It is consulted for matters that cannot be undone: justice against an oppressor, the closing of cycles, the binding of slander, the definitive end of a danger.

Its altar is austere. No flowers, no perfume, no music. The kingdom answers in silence and demands the same from the petitioner who comes before it.

Ruling Spirits

Exu Tranca Cruzeiro

Warden of the Gate

Guardian of the central cross of the cemetery. Sealer of pacts and binder of enemies. He is the first saluted at the gate.

Exu Calunguinha

Keeper of the Yard

Master of the inner geography of the cemetery. Works of resolution, severance and the closing of disputes are placed in his hand.

Exu Sete Cruzeiros

Lord of Seven Crosses

Magistrate of definitive cases. He is invoked when judgment must fall and no further negotiation will be entertained.

Pomba Gira do Cruzeiro

Lady of the Cross

Feminine sovereign of the kingdom. She rules over what is finished — broken bonds, ended marriages, severed loyalties.

Offerings · Despachos

For the Exus

  • · Aged cachaça poured at the foot of the central cross
  • · Strong, unfiltered cigars
  • · Black coffee with no sugar
  • · Seven black candles arranged as a cross
  • · Iron nails, hammered into the earth
  • · Cracked clay bowls, never new

For the Pomba Giras

  • · Black wine in a single goblet
  • · Black roses, thorns left intact
  • · Long black cigarettes
  • · A black veil or strip of dark cloth
  • · Black and red candles in equal number
  • · Honey poured over an iron blade

Offerings are brought to the cemetery gate at midnight, never inside without permission of the gatekeeper. The petitioner departs in silence and bathes before sleeping.

Ritual Protocol

  1. 01

    Salutation at the Gate

The gatekeeper Exu is saluted first. No work proceeds until the gate is opened — Laroyê Tranca Cruzeiro!

  2. 02

    Cleansing of the Worker

The practitioner cleanses with smoke or a dry herb pass before approaching the cross. The kingdom does not accept disorder.

  3. 03

    Tracing the Ponto

The sigil is drawn in chalk or charcoal at the foot of the cross, never in colored powders.

  4. 04

    Lighting the Candles

Black candles are arranged in the shape of a cross. They are never moved once lit.

  5. 05

    Statement of the Cause

The request is spoken once, clearly, without embellishment. The kingdom does not entertain repetition.

  6. 06

    Departure in Silence

After the offering is presented, the worker leaves without looking back and does not speak until home.

The Rules

  • · Salute the gatekeeper before crossing the threshold.
  • · Speak the cause once, with truth, and do not return to argue.
  • · Pay every promise; the cemetery keeps its ledger.
  • · Work on Mondays, Fridays, or the day the spirit specifies.
  • · Bathe and change clothes before sleeping after a work.

Prohibitions

  • · Never bring music or laughter to the cross.
  • · Never sweeten an offering meant for this kingdom.
  • · Never use white in any element of the work.
  • · Never take anything home from the cemetery.
  • · Never invoke the kingdom in petty disputes.

Principal Rites

Amarração do Cruzeiro

The Binding of the Cross

A black candle is dressed with the petitioner's intention and burned at the foot of the central cross. Used to bind slander, harassment or persecution.

Sentença

The Sentence

A formal petition for justice, written on parchment, named aloud and burned with seven iron nails. The kingdom delivers the verdict in its own time.

Despacho de Calunga

Offering at the Gate

The classical offering of the Cruzeiros: black coffee, cachaça, cigars and black candles placed at the cemetery gate. Sealed with seven iron nails.

Corte de Caminhos

The Cutting of the Path

Performed to definitively sever a relationship, contract, or obligation. The cord representing the bond is cut at the cross and buried under iron.

Saudação · Salutation

“Laroyê Tranca Cruzeiro!
Saravá o Reino dos Cruzeiros!”

Hail the warden of the gate, hail the Kingdom of the Crosses.
